This is such a great reminder of what really matters. I'd love to be a yummy mummy (for my own sake!), but I know that ultimately it's a very shallow aspiration!

Yvette, that's one thing I love about the family my husband and I have created - we may not be high flyers or wealthy or famous, but we ARE there for each other no matter what !

Hi Jess, wow, what a lovely compliment. Actually, it wasn't intentional at all - as I looked back on what I'd written I was amazed to see that it reminded me of the P31 woman!

Hi Rhia, I know what you mean. My mum had a severe mental illness which negatively impacted her mothering ability ... I often felt like *I* was the mum, and she was the child.

At least we know that OUR kids have got awesome mums, hey!

As I was reading this I wondered if you had kind of 'reworded' the proverbs 31 woman. Cause this is probably the most socially applicable 'version' I have heard.

If only we could all easily focus on what's on the inside, rather than the out. The world would be a much better place.

I didn't have my mum growing up - just my step mum who is in no way a motherly mother. I dreamed of having a motherly mother then and sometimes still do :-)

I couldn't live without my mum.. I guess its how life picks you. Would you really want to have celebrity parents? I doubt I would. My dad has a pretty high flying powerful job, and he spent alot of my childhood away on business. I hated it growing up. Now I know he did it to keep us happy and comfortable. But was it really worth it in the end?

Yes, I've been through this too. And it does hurt when the people you considered to be your friends remain silent, inactive and stay away. It almost feels like you're diseased and they don't want to catch that disease. It hurts in the most awful unimaginable way and anyone who reads this and hasn't experienced such a close death, I pray they will take notice and reach out to those they care about when death touches their family. As the same thing will hit them one day, when they are least prepared and it's our family and friends we need around us in those most awful days following the death. And it's not just the days but the weeks and months too.
