Hearty congratulations to Footprints’ own web editor, Kathie Thomas, on her 2nd nomination for Australian of the Year!

So what are you doing to celebrate this Australia Day?! My husband and son have gone fishing; my daughter is at the beach; and I am enjoying some time alone at home in the cool air conditioning!

A writing buddy of mine, Lyn Hurry, sent me a wonderful email this morning of the forgotten third verse of our national anthem, and I really wanted to share it with you:

If the reason why so many people don’t know about it is because it wasn’t part of the ORIGINAL song, then (in my opinion!) it’s a poor excuse.

With Christ our head and cornerstone,
We’ll build our nation’s might,
Whose way and truth and light alone
Can guide our path aright.
Our lives, a sacrifice of love,
Reflect our Master’s care;
With faces turned to heaven above
To advance Australia fair.
Without joyful hearts then let us sing
Advance Australia Fair!

If only ALL Aussies could sing this and mean it today!
